Dr. Rachel Herlein

Ass't Head for Academic Excellence, Laurel School
Dr. Herlein brings nearly three decades of education experience to Laurel having spent 20 of those years as a leader in all-girls schools. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College, a master’s from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate in education from Northeastern University.

Most recently she served for seven years as the academic dean and dean of faculty at Holton-Arms, a girls’ school (Grades 3-12) in Bethesda, MD. Prior to Holton-Arms, she held several positions, including director of academic development, at Garrison Forest School, a girls’ school K-12 in Owings Mills, MD. She also taught English in the Baltimore County Public Schools. She has spoken at a number of professional conferences and symposiums.
