Dr. Rachel Herlein

Ass't Head for Academic Excellence, Laurel School
Dr. Herlein brings nearly three decades of teaching experience, close to 20 years of them in girls’ schools, to Laurel. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College, a master’s from Johns Hopkins University and received her doctor of education degree from Northeastern University in May, 2022.

Most recently she served for seven years as the academic dean and dean of faculty at Holton-Arms, a girls’ school (Grades 3-12) in Bethesda, MD. Prior to Holton-Arms, she held several positions, including director of academic development, at Garrison Forest School, a girls’ school K-12 in Owings Mills, MD. She also taught English in the Baltimore County Public Schools. She has spoken at a number of professional conferences and symposiums.
